Rsync could be difficult as it's only one way (uni-directional).
Unison might do the trick though (along with heartbeat).
I don't know how Unison compares with DRBD.

I have a similar setup using drbd and heartbeat between two toaster
boxes.
It does not give you any load sharing capability (as its purely an
active/passive setup), but does provide you with the redundancy you're
looking for.

Short of that, I'd be sure to run raid (software raid works well, you

This is typically done with a common storage server backend. The
configuration for such a setup is not trivial.
What are you trying to accomplish?
