I have got to get registered to get these.. Ive putting it off to long..
I ve been working with qmt since 2004 and luv it.. I feel like it is an
integral part of my core systems and if it has an issue then the whole
core has an issue.
I want to be more part of development but I am still putting together
gear to help with this.

I think you answered your own question there. The load dropped after
you changed the drive, so I think it would be safe to say that your
drive was introducing latency.
I also have some videos (http://video.qmailtoaster.com) that show
some tips on how to increase throughput on your system.

Do you still have the old drive? It might be interesting to check the
SMART data on it for indications of problems.
I also suspect that when your load was high that the cpu wait % was
rather high. Did you happen to notice cpu wait % at the time?
Everyone with a QMT that does any kind of volume should check out
Jake's tuning videos. The stock QMT is exactly that - stock. One of
Jake's tips in particular is like adding a "nitrous" kit to your QMT.
