Hi, The problem is not the patch utility itself, but the patch included in the package. It likely includes some fuzziness and the patch utility in Fedora is not tolerant when it comes to this. Personally, I think this is a good idea. The problem happens when you apply a patch that was calculated against e.g. software version 2 and is now applied to software version 2.1. If the file to patch has the lines to patch on different line numbers, some systems allow (by default) applying the patch with the offset (=fuzziness) while others do not.
