Port 25 does not require authentication, provided the email is going to a domain for which QMT is set up to receive email (domains listed in rcpthosts file). If port 25 did not require authentication otherwise, it would be an open relay, which is a very bad thing.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your situation.
