Thats why I'm so confused. My domains are setup and DNS is working
great. I can send email on port 587 with authentication just fine. When
I try to do the same on port 25, it errors out if I don't have
authentication enabled on the client.

The error message on the client side probably won't say much, but it wouldn't hurt posting it.

What does the smtp log show for the rejected session?

You need to have authentication enabled on the client. Otherwise, they won't be able to send anything to non-local domains. You should be able to send to local domains with no authentication, but that's not a typical situation.

What else could block port 25 from
receiving email?

It may not be a case of the port being blocked.

I have been fighting with this for a couple of days and have had no luck
figuring out why port 25 requires authentication. I have checked the run
file and everything looks good. It's a new install and I haven't changed
much. Any Ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

Port 25 does not require authentication, provided the email is going
to a domain for which QMT is set up to receive email (domains listed
in rcpthosts file). If port 25 did not require authentication
otherwise, it would be an open relay, which is a very bad thing.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your situation.
