Perhaps you will too.

I'm using TB 16 on Linux (platform shouldn't matter though) with only AES ciphers, and it's working fine.

Can you try TB v16 on Win7, or a newer version of TB? IIRC TB17 had some issues.

What are you cipher keys?

I'm using TBird v16 on ubuntu, and smtp and imap work fine with starttls.
