You shouldn't give up on Qooxdoo's table right awy. It's one of the more complex things in Qooxdoo, but so far I could get it to do what I needed.
Let us know what you want to achieve and there is likely somebody who can give a hint. And Derrell (the or one of the author's of the Qooxdoo table) is usually rather active and very helpful.
