OK, this seems to be a different question. Qpopper's X-UIDL is an MD5
hash. It's non-reversible. But an unseen (by the client) message doesn't
have an X-UIDL yet, so like Status: (if you aren't filtering those out),
it will tell you which messages have been read by the client. Literal
reading by a human being is outside the scope of the software, and I
make no effort to judge that.

Alternately, you should have cache files in your cache directory. If
this is not set in your popper.conf file, it's either configured at
compile time or is the same as your spool directory. Look for files
named ".username.cache" in that directory. Their mtimes tells you when
popper last checked mail for each respective user.
