We allow 200 connections with a maximum of 4 per IP. Turning off MAXCONNIP isn't really realistic either considering how often we get nailed by virus hosts. FWIW, we had over 1 million incoming SMTP connections yesterday processed by qpsmtpd. I believe one day last week we had about 300k on an 'average' day; once we did some tweaks to ease the load on clamd, qpsmtpd was handling the load albeit with the frequent SEGVs. -- justin
