qpsmtpd is bouncing it due to the lack of a local mailbox. I have a
plugin that checks for the existence of local mailboxes, but even if I
made this case-insignificant and accepted the mail, it would promptly
be rejected by qmail-local.

I know that, but in this case the mail is for local delivery. Maybe
I should also patch qmail-local?
