Graham and all--

I don't know what a md5sum utility is, let alone whether I have it.
I'll be happy to send John and/or Conrad my file if he wanrts it and tells me
how to do it.

I'm sorrry to have burdened all of you with this, but the Quackle
list-serv is set up so a reply goes to all members.

O'Laugh - do you have a utility to load a dictionary file outside of
Quackle and print all the words out that are in it?

If so, have Stu send you his file - possibly it is corrupt - either a
disk error or a virus could cause this behaviour. (I have a vague
recollection of reading about a virus that would set a random bit in a
  file, just to be evil...)

Alternatively...Stu - do you have the md5sum utility for calculating a
checksum of a file, so we can compare it to the distribution without
  actually sending the file?

Meanwhile... changing the subject entirely... has anyone run Quackle
on an eeepc? (the 9in screen version - 1024x600 I think) If you have,
what was entailed in installing it?

  Graham
