Houston you're so right about making some noise, after my lawyer started snooping around in my nursing homes files and asking questions they couldn't get me out fast enough!
You'd be surprised how much nicer things went after he left that day.
Finally they understood what my freedom meant and were so helpful.

Stacys right make noise a quiet mouth dont get fed. I kept calling the State Board of Health on the nursing home 4 violations, my ambudsman for violations the nursing home helped 2 get me out of there. It was cheaper 4 them 4 me 2 be gone than 2 stay:) But youre definitely on the right track>>> independence

I had problems finding housing, care, etc.. when I was coming out of rehab. I wrote the papers and was on the news as well. Some calls came to the rehab center from regular people with ideas. I got really lucky. A local man that owns a hotel here modified a house for me. If you are not getting responses by letters then call them. A lot of our state reps have social workers on their staff. Keep pushing at them. Let them know how your life is on hold in a nursing home and what you can be accomplishing if you weren't where you are. Be loud and make lots of noise. Trust me, it works. Keep me updated please. I would love to know how you are progressing I'm sue in time things will work out for the best. Stacy "People who hate you do not win unless you hate them. right now i am stuck in a nursing home in new jersey. i contacted the statewide independant living council. they inturn assigned me a community choice counselor from the office of long term care options. the counselor has absolutely no clue of what programs are availble for me to get into alternative living situation that's not so restrictive. i'm on a vent while i sleep, so everywhere i turn everyone thinks i need icu level care... i lived on my own for years with very little skilled nursing care. i contacted state and local government represenitives, with no replies. my brother thinks just because i'm not being abused that this place is ok, it ain't. i have completely run out of options. please anyone with any ideas? thanks-
