heyyyyy marko polo....before i counter your point,
i just wanna say 'what a great country we live in...we should never take it for
granted.' i think about it often, and ask myself, 'where else in this whole
whole can a c5/c6 quad drive to work, enjoy all the security that we have here,
get help financially and healthcare, and have a productive life?' In most
places around the World people that end up in our position are either
institutionalized, or family has to care for in ALL ways. Some, maybe
most, Latin American countries don't have anything like wheelchair van
lifts, or hand controls, no accessibility laws, lack
of wheelchairs, especially custom or powered chairs....i knew a girl in
Chile that never left her home!
Wish somebody would start humming the anthem while
i type...
Oh yea, countering ur point....i didn't say Saddam
wasn't ANY threat, but i don't think he was nearly the threat to go to
war....War should be the absolute LAST straw, and we should be damn sure we have
the World behind us in most cases. I keep hearing the 1,000 or so
guys we have dead over there, but hardly do they mention nearly 7,000
coming back without arms, legs, SCI, blind, burned, brain
damaged and mentally messed up. Not only is this war costing towards
$300,000,000, but, as we know better than anybody, there are guys/gals coming
back to suffer the fate of disability.
I will quote Jackson Browne, who we both love as a
prolific songwriter, "there's a shadow on the faces of the men who fan the
flames/of the wars that are fought in places/where their business interest
runs....you see on the TV and talk shows, you hear it again and again, how the
USA stands for freedom, and we come to the aide of a friend/but who are the ones
that we call our friends?/ these governments killing their own/when a
people finally can't take anymore, and they pick up a gun, or a brick, or
stone...THERE ARE LIVES IN THE BALANCE"
white flag
raised....tony
