Hi Dave,

That is why I said "according to him".  I'm am absolutely sure it will affect it.  You can't take that much money and expect it not to change.  I'm not so sure about what he wants to do here.  He didn't make any promises that if it doesn't work out that there is a guarantee that you will be safe.  I'm not so sure I want the government taking any portion of my earnings and investing it for me. It sounds like a gamble.  Who is he getting to invest this money for us?  I will predict a huge scandal now if his plan goes through.  I want to know that if money is lost in these investments, is there a guarantee that I will get a certain amount.  I can see why the Democrats got so upset after the state of the union afterwards. He should have had a more clear cut plan before he chose to propose it.  Just my opinion.

Hi Stacy,

I'm not over 55 and I don't get SSI, so the changes in SS will affect me.  And even if you are on SSI or over 55, taking 2-3 trillion out of any program will affect the amount of benefits that program will be able to cover, so benefits could be lowered or cut.

It won't.  If you already accept SSI or over 55 Social Security will not be affected.  Also according to his plan, it is only people that want to have the government invest the money for you.  It will not be a mandatory thing.
