I agree with you Dan. I saw the movie this last weekend
and thought it was really good. I wanted to see it specifically for the
controversy and to make my own decision about the movie. It was her choice
to ask for his assistance, being a high quad on a ventilator, and without any
family support, she turned to him. My only complaint about the movie was
that they could have portrayed the rehab hospital more realistically. I
don't think nowadays they allow a high quad to get bedsores to that
extent. They never showed her on her side or being turned. I realize
Eastwood wanted to portray her life as miserable as possible to make the coach's
decision to help her easier. I think it was Eastwood's intent to show that
it was an act of love to respect her wishes and help her end her
life.
