my roho deflated, caused a sore on my left hip.
i'm still recovering from my flap surgery.
doctor told me it would be a 10 day hospital stay...
omitted the part about needing 2months total bedrest.
i'm now allowed up for 3hrs a day.
wound vac was working too slowly.

Diligence in keeping the pressure off and moisture away. My last one was
in June of 2004 and didn't heal till late december! For the first 3 months
I was getting up only 3 hrs a day. 21 hrs in bed

To sum up ... it wasn't caused by pressure but by constant moisture. But
once it opened it was a bitch to get rid of. We tried EVERYTHING. The
wound vac helped greatly but didn't respond as quickly as we thought it
would.

All sores are different. We tried 12 different treatments (packing,
dressings, wound vac and anything we thought might work.

I've been on this list ten yrs and this whole past 12 months has been bad
for many members to get sores. Hmmmmmmmmm.

In my 25 yrs as a quad I've had sores on both my heels, on my forefinger
(had to amputate half of it), one on the bone of my butt (my first) and the
last two laid me up 12 months total in the last 4 yrs.

One BEGAN as yeast but became a sore in the crease under my RIGHT buttock.
(2001). This last one was moisture induced and became a full blown sore in
the crease under my LEFT buttock.

Lori (now keeping my skin dry down there)

Subject: [QUAD-L] Pressure sore solutions?

Hi Everyone!

I can't figure out how to go through the archives, so hope you don't mind me
asking about the age-old pressure sore question...Is there a good way to get
rid of one? 3 weeks ago I sat on my Roho without air and needless to say,
my butt didn't like it. Now I have an open sore, not under an ischule (sp?)
but off to the side. 3 years ago I had a pressure sore and literally laid
in bed for 4-6 hours every afternoon for a year and finally opted for flap
surgery. Has anyone had any success getting rid of one? And if so, can you
tell me what you did? I'm usually in my chair 15 hours/day.

Thanks,

Sharon

P.S. Spring is on its way! Hurray! I'll give you a yell, Stacy, when we
head to O.C.!
