I got up from my bed and went to the bathroom.  When I got back to the bed, I blacked out and hit my head on a bedside table.  After the neurologist examed the x-rays in the emergency room, I asked him what was the prognosis.  He told me I would never walk again, did not mention my hands and arms would be useless as well.

Well,
There I was lying in the floor on the passenger side of my van after
going of a mountain in the Black Hills, I couldn't feel anything below
my shoulders. Next thing I remember is a flashlight shining through a
hole in my windsheild where a mule deer had tagged me. They were
startled when I told them not to move me (thinking I had to be dead).
They went to the neaest ranch and called for help, I was alert and
awake all through the ordeal of being slowly immobilized by the
paramedics, loaded into the ambulance (where my temp was 91 deg) and
taken down to Rapid City.
After x-rays etc I heard a doc tell my old girlfriend I'd never move
again, so I smacked him. It was then I noticed the 16 penny nail
sticking through my hand.
Due to my "action" they sedated me. When I woke up they had tongs
digging into my skull...
So here I am 9 years later with a college educdation, and hoping some
type of research opens its doors to releave a syrinx and inject some
type of nerve regenerating substance. I'll live with the pain untill
then. If I go under the knife, I want to kill 2 birds with one stone.
