I think you are the one who said you're fortunate to be in a 'better' nursing home. If it weren't for my husband.. I'm afraid that is my fate as my only family (2 older sisters) are non-commital in response to keeping me out of adult care.
Is it because of the Medicare shambles and lack of family for you?
What state are you in?

My Medicare part A & B kicked in Dec '01. I also had Medicaid which then
covered attendant care 2x a day, 7 days a week and a skilled nursing visit
1x a month. Enter Medicare as primary: visits slashed to 1x a day, 3 days a
week, and, no, Medicaid doesn't fill the gap I was told over and over until,
with no other financial recourse, in Feb '02 I entered a nursing home. I
hope your experience is a more positive one than mine.
