My son is on a Medicaid waiver. He gets 24/7 care. Not all States have waivers and some States have several types. Check to see if you’re eligible. You can be eligible for some waivers even if you are Medicare eligible. We live in Idaho which I think is the one of the most conservative States and we have several types of waivers. Your local independent agency would have the info for you.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [QUAD-L] Home Care

What does it take to qualify to get insurance to cover home care from an agency?

I know all insurances are different, but how about Medicare?

My insurance covers home care for nursing needs, but not just to get dressed and into a wheelchair. But I wonder if they come out to cath or something, if they will get me dressed and up while they are here. I'm trying to get weekend care, but can't do my bowel care and change my SP cach twice a day.

Any ideas on things I might be able to say I need "Home Care" for?

thx, Greg
