This is what I had done around 10 years ago (operation in only one of my eyes). I'm now 46 years old, and still don't need reading glasses. There has been a slight

deterioration in long distance vision in the last 2 years, but not enough to have the lasik redone yet. When I start feeling that I really need glasses again, I won't hesitate to have the lasik redone (or I might look into excimer laser surgery).

Before having the lasik done, I used to wear contact lens. I would usually only wear one, which is probably why my brain had no trouble "rewiring" itself.

There is one possible solution for people like myself-monovision.  You have lasik done on one eye.  Hopefully, your brain will rewire itself and you'll be able to see far and near.  If not, you have the other eye done.
