Are those electric sockets or wall sockets serviced by that generator marked for emergency? Nursing homes are required to use red covers on those receptacles for emergency power. There are many types of generators. When we invested in one about 3 years ago, we decided to provide backup power not just for my essential medical equipment but for most of the house. It has a direct feed into our gas line and automatically turns on during an electricity power outage within 10 seconds. It can also be tax deductible as a medical necessity. Ours is a Guardian.
