I started the process last May. My chair is still a couple months away.

Getting a new chair is akin to pulling teeth, or so I'm told. I just figured
I'd start the paperwork about six months ahead of when I need it. The TDX3 I'm
using has been a good chair but it is getting worn our fast.
I tryed to tell the folks at Medicaid that I wouldn't pester them about ramps
if they'd get me a chair that climbs steps. My facilitator wanted to know if I
was high. I'm with Mark. I hope you like your chair and it keeps you free and
"taking up all the good parking places.".

My new chair got in today. Invacare TDX5, (tilt, recline, seat elevator,
electric leg rests). I had to go up and get in it so they could make any
adjustments to it. Only minor things, but they have to make some knee/thigh
pads to keep my knees from spreading. I sit fine in my old chair, but this one
has a center post leg rest, instead of individual leg rests. I like a center
post one better, but you do sit better if there are 2 leg rests. But when you
have individual electric leg rests, each leg rest must get plug into the chair.
So it’s a hassle getting them on and off. The center post can just lower and
tuck back under the chair. I can tell it is a bit faster than my TDX3, but so
much smoother to drive. I think I’m going to like the different back on it a
lot. Instead of a basic square padded back, this one has the top corners cut
off. So your shoulders have room to move around. It should be delivered within
the week. I never thought they would approve this chair with all the extras,
but they did… I hope I like it…
