They reroute your bladder using 6 inches of the small intestine you have the
stoma and ostomy bag that fits over the stoma, kind of like a Band-Aid. The
ostomy bag is cut the size of the stoma by your aid or you can order precut.
I use stoma paste around the circle of the bag and there is also adhesive.
I also used to inches of tape on the outside that helps keep the bag from
falling off. The problem I has is mostly at night, it may get to full and
leak
and of course you don't know it, because you can't feel. I'm so cold I were
so many blankets, that often I cannot smell either. I don't have that many
times although I still have UTI's, it seemed a lot easier than a catheter. I
got the ostomy in 86 and I was injured in 74. Craig Hospital thought it was
caused by the catheter. They said it was very rare, Moser and only seen an
old men around 80 . My mother had to get a ostomy from bladder cancer also
about 2 1/2 years ago. She has a lot of problems with hers, because she gets
sores and I don't know why. It doesn't seem like any of her doctors know.
She was in a car accident in May and it has been worse sense, the seat belt
put a lot of pressure on the site and she also has a hernia under the ostomy
call which does not help. They don't really want to offer it because, they
would have to redo her ostomy.
