Hey Dillon, When I finally got out of rehab I ended up in a nursing home and hated it so I spent my time trying to figure out how to get back home.
I was lucky when I met the people from SAILS an Independent living service that helps people in nursing homes move back into the community. Since then I did find employment in the construction field through endless phone calls I finally found an old acquaintance to give me a chance which paid off for both of us I got a great job and he got a great employee that had a lot of time to think about his work and very very dedicated. Now I also spend a lot of time working with SAILS getting others in my situation out of nursing homes which means a lot to me and is also a great way to meet new people and their families so socially it’s a great pay off too. Try to find a non profit close to you that works with pwd and a lot of these places offer employment too and socially you can’t beat it. I encourage you to do this and I bet their’s one close to you. Since my injury, I have struggled to feel productive. Mainly due to frequent skin breakdown and illness, I have had to postpone or even cancel many activities I had wished to become involved. The same story goes for developing social relationships. Again, I know that I am not alone and do not pity myself or spent sleepless nights crying "why me". Maybe you can offer advice to me on what you have done or experienced that might help me. Trying to get connected Thanks. Dillon C./4/5 -- No virus found in this incoming message.
