Cullen, Yes, you are correct. The pump distributes a measured amount of medicine at timed intervals. Because the medication does not go through your entire body to get to where it needs to be, the dose is significantly less and the side effects are null. The medicine from the pump goes directly into the spine. I have my pump refilled once every six months. I can have the dose changed at any time. I was on the highest dose of Baclofen that could legally be prescribed, and my spasms still weren't under control. The spasms were interfering with my physical therapy. I was taking Baclofen and Flexeril, which made me a zombie. I couldn't even steer my wheelchair. Now if I have spasms, I know that I have a UTI or some other illness.
