To chime with everybody, it has been nine years since I was injured, I have
laughed and struggled, I have return to school and almost completed a
doctorate, I struggle everyday to be taken ligitamately, I have carved my niche
and plow ahead like I have never been in a wheelchair, some "able" people think
I am crazy, because I am out there with them everyday neck and neck, but we all
know its just how you survive, and I think SCI survivors are better equipt to
take the rough stuff, I love seeing one of us (or any disability for that
matter) out and about, especially in positions of authority or high regard,,,
keep plugging

Tim

I about cried. I rember 30 years ago bargaining with god about moving a finger
and I'm just so stunned. There is a miracle, I'm speechless.

It was Matt that went to China and here's his web page
http://friendpages.com/p/pages/cover.cgi?who=UmFuZG9tSVans_KOVsK0HAN5oNSnlbtS1W0yj_xndi3DtSTZdQuHA/RtkM3E41j_GrvYVvNls/zs58c25hXhuBqBalnUFNsFXq6JKr3/bRvtRtgub0XNEY8SkMBxp3akviuYmrfru4gJvqRiB1aZvCF7K4CjEOjztzt38LO8Acn7Za/KXTbsROqRSKd6LA6iExgDVlUtUY0-&site=fp&pageid=wermbo
He went there last year and is doing better but no miraculous cure by no means
but it did help.
He used to have to use a peach tree but now is capable of a joystick so that
does say a lot.

Dear Buc,
Nobody has succesfully walked from any surgery or treatment from China or
anywhere else. No faith healer has produced an honest miracle with a SCI. Right
now most of us are hoping stem cells may unlock some spinal injuries but China
is the only nation doing anything with stem cells and while they are leaping
ahead of us, I don't know of anyone regaining significant function. China
simply hasn't got the technological capabilities America has. Without sounding
political, many of us are awaiting Mr Bush's exit from office so that we can at
least see if theres hope to repair nerve tissues with stem cells.
Someone from this list went to China about a year or so ago. I can't find the
thread to tell you who it was or what the results were. I'm hoping someone else
will read this and fill in the blanks.
I really do have brain damage. I'm not this stupid..or maybe I am.

john

Oh Dave,

I have been injured 10 plus years and and still trying to find my way. My
biggest obstacle was my health, from pneumonia, to bladder infections and
pressure sores. I struggled through school but jobs are hard to come by.
Sometimes I feel myself a failure at not having progressed or achieved as much
as I want or expected. How does one cope when not having the excuse of being
newly injured?

Sorry to see you going through this Silas - remember, many of us have been
there. Most have lost the mate they were with 'before', many of us have
questioned God's 'wisdom', and all of us are wondering what else can go wrong.
I'm sure had I not broken my neck, I'd have been dead by now - Mach II with my
hair on fire don't-cha-know. I even drool now at these highly over powered
crotch rockets and sky divers. Yes there are better lives but there are worse
ones too. Keep your head up and eyes looking frontwards. Tomorrow is a new
day.

Danny,
i'm so sorry to see you joining this list - it can mean only one thing - you
broke your freeking neck !!!!
my 1wst couple years were the toughest for sure. i started out thinking - i'll
walk away from this like my brother did - he shattered c5 and had c5-6-7 fused
together - no paralysis. doc said mine was 'different' - i said 'ok, i can do
DIFFERENT' he said , 'no- REAL different.' little did i know what he meant.
he meant - no walking (and of course no dancing, no swimming, no playing, no
shitting, no pissing like a normal man...... ok i hope you get the point. the
thing is - there is still a lot of things i CAN do. i had and raised 3 kids
--->( kidspage )  who have THEIR KIDS --> (  Dave & Patty's Grandkids  )  i
have a story --> (Dave's story )  AND a life -->( Dave's Broken Van ).   DO NOT
GIVE UP. this is a fight you chose to fight -->(Dave's Philosophy ) don't
think you are here by accident or maybe GOD hates you, he doesn't. you are
because you chose to be here, now do what needs doing,.
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND - YOU ARE ONE OF US AND WE ARE BLESSED.
DAVE
