It is a shame. I've seen people really needing disability such as a girl I
knew years ago that had AIDS but someone that has bi polar can get it in a
heartbeat. If they took their meds, then a lot of them would be fine. My
brother for example took the meds, felt better then stopped. People take from
the system then work under the table so they get both. It really works my
nervs. That amognst so many other things such as Medicare wouldn't cover a gel
overlay for my cushion so my sore got worse. 5 surgeries and an extreme amount
of homehealth to monitor the sore including 400 bucks for a roho cushion is
crazy. I wouldn't have to had suffer and they wouldn't have had to pay so much
if they would have just forked over the 170 for what I needed in the first
place. Now my blood pressure just rose. hehe.

If I were queen of the world....

That's one of the hardest obstacles to get past when you're hiring an aide, the
wait time for them to get paid is just too long for some people and who can
blame them?
The system is so overly abused it's disgusting but it's the government so what
can you expect?

She has her provider number but believe it or not the company that oversees
waiver in Ohio has a special office with one lady in charge of over 1300
independants in this part of the state. They aren't all waiver. Some are just
house cleaners for elderly people. I've met some others on waiver. Its an
abused system. Theres a blind lady that drives. A wealthy politician who's
autistic 3year old gets 60 hours of care a week so his wife can be vice
president of the historical society. One guy is simply diabetic and gets 35
hours a week. now I'm reading where it could take 6 weeks for her first pay
check. Then again, I only qualify for 15 hours. I use to get 30 hours but they
did an audit and told me was abusing the system.

Wow, the waiver pays 13.01 and hour for independent providers in MD. The
paperwork constantly changes. Do you have some sort of coordinator to help you
through it?

In Texas an agency gets paid $40 an hour for each aid. Most aids get paid
minimum
wage.

Never hired my own so don't know anything about that part.
