I think there is a limit to how much people can stand being around me. You sound all sweet and fuzzy. I'm like a broken frankenstien toy with pieces falling off. I print up messages from phone calls and nobody figures them out. One aide said I was a 3-D puzzle with missing pieces.
Just laugh and go beg some money downtown so I can give her something to live on. john ----- Original Message ---- From: Stacy Harim <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: John S. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2007 6:30:37 PM Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Unidentified subject! That is a shame. I was getting 6 a day. I have lived alone as well. I didn't use them all and now need them increased bc of the fusion limits me more. I won't need them probably more than 6 months after I get rehab I will be able to do more and will lprobably be more independent with my transfers again once I relearn my balance. It's really off bc of the amount of spinal fusions. I also need to regain strenght after being in bed since May except the 3 weeks I had in rehab until my flap opened up. It has taken me forever to wait for the hours and hopefully next week, I will be able to finally get up when I get the help. I was given a really hard time bc my mom is my paid caregiver but lives 25 miles away. 6 hours isn't enough time do help me get dressed, help w/errands, clean, etc. By the time I get washed up and dressed, it would be time for me to go back to bed before she goes and would have no time for anything else. It's a shame how overworked these people are and how we have to wait for them to get the papers pushed. I got really spoiled with my old coordinator. She was working and going to nursing school while really on top of getting what I need. I have to wait sometimes over a week for my new one to call me back. Hoping to at least get outside next week. I'm going crazy in this stuffy house. Thank God for the antideppresants because I have only spoken to a couple of friends and have had one visit since the beg of aug. My friends are busy with their amilies and its still busy in the restaurants here since the weather is holding out here at the beach. I am hoping I can make the transfer into the van so I can get away for a little bit to at least see them where they bartend at. There is a lot more to hold on to and the transfer is short so I pray when I try, it works out for me. I want to be able to drive myself to my rehab so I don't have to deal with medical transportation. Especially to Baltimore 3 hours away. Medical transportation picks me up before dark and gets me home well after since I am first picked up and last droppped off since I live the furthest east. They take loads of people to Baltimore each day and its a nighmare. Anyhow, It hurts my heart to know that a lot of you are worse off than me and cant get the help you need. I know I can get better since I still have use ofmy arms and wonnt need so much permantly. All I can say is that I'm lucky to live in a good state willing to give the help if you can find the resources bc they aren't exactly offered unless you get in touch with the right people. She has her provider number but believe it or not the company that oversees waiver in Ohio has a special office with one lady in charge of over 1300 independants in this part of the state. They aren't all waiver. Some are just house cleaners for elderly people. I've met some others on waiver. Its an abused system. Theres a blind lady that drives. A wealthy politician who's autistic 3year old gets 60 hours of care a week so his wife can be vice president of the historical society. One guy is simply diabetic and gets 35 hours a week. now I'm reading where it could take 6 weeks for her first pay check. Then again, I only qualify for 15 hours. I use to get 30 hours but they did an audit and told me was abusing the system. john ----- Original Message ---- From: Stacy Harim <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2007 4:37:10 PM Subject: [QUAD-L] Unidentified subject! Wow, the waiver pays 13.01 and hour for independent providers in MD. The paperwork constantly changes. Do you have some sort of coordinator to help you through it?
