I saw on Good morning America where a woman of a disabled child takes pictures
of those who illegally park in the marked spaces and files complaints with the
police dept. She also shows up for all of the court dates and has helped find
most of them guilty. This was in New Jersey I think and has even taken a few
football players to court.

I sure don't think public access to transportation is the answer but if the
locality gets a good system running, it is much nicer than wondering where to
park or how to get out. Granted public isn't always "right" on time. It isn't
"right" on time for anyone, handicapped or not.
At present I'm fighting to get cell phones to drivers so people get an
accurate ETA. Drivers want it but the company doesn't and hasn't given a valid
reason against it yet.
I've confronted people that were parking in handicapped spots and while there
is nothing wrong with them, they have a doctors permit. If doctors hand out
pain meds and diet pills, bet he hands out those little blue parking permits
like loly pops.
Maybe some of you can get communities to enforce the parking laws in parking
lots that are not publicly owned. Push it as a source of revenue.

Good luck, & Happy New Year!

To be truthful Amy...

I get whomever is driving my van to do the same. "Park out towards the end."
It's easier...

IMHO, a power wheelchair doesn't have problems traveling the distances. So, let
the ones less fortunate use the handicap spots.

Again, I just responded that I like the persons post...for many it's so true.

Have a great day,

It is actually easier for me to park my boyfriends van at the lower end of the
parking lot. he is on a vent and it gives us a little more privacy to suction
or empty caths if needed. Plus I park sideways in 2 spots so that we are not
blocked in. Looks like I cant drive but no one can get near the door that way
to block it.
