I did not have the problem until I began spending many more hours in the
wheelchair. I began doing that when I started working eight years post
injury. At the beginning... I would come home and prop my feet up on a
chair but that did not work.
When I finally quit working and did not spend quite as much time in the
wheelchair... it was like I could not turn back time and have my legs and
feet and ankles not swell anymore. In fact... it got worse.

So, I have tried everything from the support hose to staying in bed longer.
Staying in bed longer with my legs level to my heart (like any doctor will
tell you) is the only thing that works for me. I also have to lie on my
back. So I only spend about eight or nine hours a day in the chair these
days.
