If my memory serves me correctly, they were trying to do intermittent
catheterization and they just weren't able to do it due to the volume of
fluid I was drinking.  They had me on a fluid restriction and even when that
it my bladder was swelling way too much.

They initially did the suprapubic with the idea that I was going to try to
get my bladder trained so it would void out through a Texas catheter, but I
kept getting UTIs.  They discovered that my bladder was retaining about 100
to 200 cc of your and even after I had voided.  So, we decided to keep the
suprapubic.
