I recall being told I would never be able to breathe without the aid of a ventilator. During the first year I never lost hope, but after about three years I realized it was highly unlikely I would get any more improvement than I had already. I have seen some small improvement, but I still can't move anything below my shoulders. No finger movement, no nothing, but I'm not going to complain because there are many people out there on ventilators and others that are not who have that much worse than I do.
At least that's what I tell myself all the time.
