Hi,

It was six months before I got my period after I was paralyzed from
encephalomyelitis. I was told that your body goes into some sort of shock and
I was also on a good amount of steriods. They also made my hair fall out.
After that I had weak periods for quite a long time and now I get a really bad
one every few months. The doctors put me on antideppresants when I began
recovering from a coma so it was easier to deal with my recovery. I quit the
antideppresants after a couple of years and was fine until I hurt my back again
from osteomyelitis. I had a few spinal surgeries and my period quit again for
a few months. I quess when the nerves get involved, it affects other parts of
our body in pretty signifigant ways.

I hope our advice and experiences help you,
Stacy

Subject: [QUAD-L] Another Ladies only question ! (Menopause and S.C.I.)

Ladies,
I am new at this, it has only been 1 yr. 8 mo. since my accident. And I can't
seem to get a straight answer to my question.

I am 40 and right after my accident my period stopped for a couple of months.
Then I would have it 2 or 3 days then go 2 weeks then get it again. I just
never know when it is going to come.

My question is this: I am experiencing sweating on the right side of my head.
Especially above my ear to my neck. The sweat just runs down my face. My
scalp has been soaked most of the day. Also my right cheek is flushed.

It comes and goes, right now I am in the drying out stage. Going to bed
shortly and always wake up sweated (only on the one side) sometime during the
night..

I have adjusted with my disability and have been at peace with it. My life has
changed in so many ways, More for the good than the bad.

My point is:I have not been depressed but lately my moods have been wacky and I
cry over stuff that I normally would not.

If you have any advice I would love to hear from you.

Thanks Ladies!
Shelly
