When I was first paralyzed and came home, I didnt know what was what and not one to run to the hospital. I was not driving and had to have two days notice to get transportation and not able to get into friends cars. I wasn't about to pay for an ambulance unless I was sure it was a problem. I know that there are things that I questioned only to find out its a normal thing. I was freaked out about swelling to find that it's normal. My pain and spasms gradually got worse only to find out that pain and spasms are normal. I did go to the doctor about those things but it is nice to know to throw the questions out there to see how 'normal' they are according to paralysis.

As helpful as everyone on this list tries to be, I don't think anyone here can offer real medical advice to someone without knowing their medical history or the severity of the medical issue in question. Maybe it's just me, but if ANYTHING is out of the ordinary for me, I call the doctor's office and schedule an appointment, unless of course, I need to go to emergency. I would think that after most of what us quads have been through, we should not hesitate to get medical attention. It could mean the difference between life and death. If it isn't anything that severe, at least we've had it checked out and know what's going on. At least that's my two cents worth.
