We all have all had 'lapses of common sense' Danny.  Most times they are 
inconsequential, sometimes we screw ourselves up and sometimes,....   we hurt 
others.  It is truly unfortunate that you hurt someone else so badly.  Because 
it was a stupid accident - caused by bad judgment, i think you should be let 
off easy.  BUT because of  the following, --> "In court documents they say 
Espinoza has never contacted them to apologize or even expressed remorse." I am 
curious as to why you haven't contacted the family to apologize.  I currently 
think you are being punished quite enough.  GOD speed my friend, I hope the 
legal system passes you by.  Good luck.
