Not to rain on your parade but also want to be realistic.  I had 
encephalomyelits 7 years ago.  I was paralyzed from the neck down and got 
movement bad except for T7 down.  Months later I could flex the quad muscles in 
my thigh and have faint sensation. I haven't gotten anymore back since.
The cut off they say for recovery is 2 years so don't lose hope and if you can 
move something, keep moving it.  That is what I was told.  The therapist said 
be sure not to fatigue the muscles though.
I hope the turn out is different for you than me.

has anyone heard of people getting up and walking after being in a chair for
