That concerns me because I didn't call them last time but I did previously with
the pressure sores.  I don't have record of that but they are aware that I am
getting surgery again.  Last year, I broke my back getting into my chair and I
didn't call anyone but 911.  I was getting dilated shot in my hip and then
didn't remember anything for a while. I went through depression in the hospital
because of the many surgeries I had to get and didn't talk to my counselor til
after I came home a couple of months later.
Its a shame because they changed my case to someone else, I spoke to her about
it and then they switched my case back to my old counselor.  I am not so crazy
about all of them up there at all.  I have had a lot of counselors in a few
years and this last one has been with me a few years, He has CP but still
doesn't seem very empathetic and I thought he would be.
I will do what I can, even if it's from rehab and involve anyone I can.  All of
my doctors are really supportive and will help with anything I need.  I have my
records from last year, I will get a copy for this year and a note from them
stating what is going on and how long they expect my recovery to be.  I'm
hoping to get it together this summer so I can get back to school before the
fiscal year (oct) and won't have to worry about any of this.
Thanks for your help Wheel,
Stacy

Make sure that your VR counselor is aware of your surgery in writing if you
can.  Keep them current with telephone calls and document them in YOUR
paperwork. Dates and Times.  This way, VR can not use the excuse that you have
not been talking or writing them.

Best Wishes

I'm having surgery Tues. so I am going to talk with the doctor more in detail
about it while I am in the hospital.  He is really encouraging me to get back
to school so I am sure he will provide whatever is neccessary for DORS.  I will
also talk with the plastic surgeon about the pressure sore problems I had in
previous years.  He is the one who found the infection in the bone and removed
it so it finally healed.  Thank God for Hopkins and Doctors that care.

Stacy,
I had to be out of colege for a hole year because of illness. My doctor told VR
that I had to have to out from college. My case was put on hold but not closed.

Hey all,

I got a notice from voc rehab that they are closing my case because I haven't
done anything to move forward in education or employment.

I called them and talked to my counselor.  They want a note from my doctor on
how long he anticipates recovery and if I don't get better by August then I'm
getting my case closed.  He also said he needs to sit with the supervisor to
see how many more semesters they will pay for.  I had to drop classes last year
because of illness and they are not being very cooperative or empathetic about
my situation.

Has anyone else had their case closed because of hospitilizations?  Any advice
is appreciated because if I don't have them helping me with school when I'm
better then I am screwed and I don't want to settle for any job but want to
finish my education.  That is my ultimate goal.

Stacy
