there is an inherent problem with running dragon on Vista and even some XP platforms where a speech engine already exists. Two just can't live together aside from the 64 and 32 bit awkwardness. Most of you have some ginormous hard drives. You can have Vista and XP by simply partitioning that big beast. Then have your old xp completely copied to your d-drive. I haven't actually seen this done for this purpose but I know gamers that insist it is will work. When I looked on the Web site I found that Dragon NaturallySpeaking ten is now available. I don't know if any of you have tried it, but I still think that there will be a problem with running two different speech engines from the same operating system. I'm sure for a lot of you running alternate operating systems on the same computer is nothing new. Some of you might feel it is more complicated and all I can say is, yes it is. You will get more from your computer and also have a chance to test microsofts vista and see if it really is that good. john

It works amazingly well and is relatively similar to NaturallySpeaking. This is a big warning for everyone. Right now Dragon NaturallySpeaking does not work with a 64-bit system. I ended up having to look high and low to find a computer fast enough to run Vista plus Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Now I'm a little concerned about the quality of my sound card, but hopefully I'll be okay in the long run. That kind of worries me because my computer came with Norton and I have that on all of my computers. I have never heard of Kaspersky. I have had two computers come with Norton. I really don't like Vista as it does not work very well with Dragon 9, unless I'm doing something wrong. Dragon doesn't respond to the commands that were no problem with XP Does anyone have any suggestions? What is the best kind of Bluetooth microphone to use with Dragon? I am just using a USB wired microphone that will not let me read the story. The microphone did work for more than a month and all of a sudden stopped working. Thank you for any suggestion that can be given. Dana In a message dated 10/5/2008 4:17:43 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Error! Filename not specified.Error! Filename not specified. Hello all---thanks for the advice on the internet security issue. My server yahoo could not provide security on my new computer now because the new computers are 64 bit and they are not up to that yet...they only can go up to 36 bit.. they told me they will probably upgrade later but the new computers are ahead of them. So I went back to the Best Buy store to get Norton and they told me that they no longer will recommend Norton due to problems, and I should get the newest and best of all called Kaspersky.com. It cost me $80 bucks for 1 year, seems like everything is just a sheme to get more money these days ! Anyway I'm up and running on my new pc. and by the time a year goes by, yahoo will probably be upgraded to newer security. thanks, Dan H. ________________________________ New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination.
