I'm not sure if this will help, but you need to probably contact the
Department of Veterans Affairs to determine if he is a veteran.  If you
received a general discharge and was in the service longer than six months,
usually they are considered veterans.  At least that's what I believe.

Does he still have a DD 214?  If so, this should tell how long he was in the
service.


I am curious to know if the medical personnel up there tried to wean him off
of the ventilator.  I have only known what others C4 who is actually
ventilator dependent.
