Actually they just released a 64-bit version, I am using it right now to
write this e-mail. It's only for version 10 standard and preferred only as
of right now. If you own 10 it's a free upgrade

<http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking> . I've been bugging them since
November about it because I use a 64-bit computer and 64-bit Vista. Windows
Vista speech recognition is a joke compared to Dragon.

Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Windows Vista and Voice Recognition System

I went through this one I got a new computer. Is your system a 64 bit
system? If so, NaturallySpeaking won't work on that computer yet. In
October they told me they had no idea when they would be able to support a
64-bit system and right now the majority of computers out there have 64-bit
systems.

If you have a 32 bit system, give me a holler and I might be able to help
you out.

Windows Vista's voice recognition software does work okay, but it does
require a little bit more work to get used to it. I would suggest working
within the new documents the voice recognition software works with and then
cutting and pasting your text over to the site you're working on. I tried
working with the program, but I ended up going out and looking for a
computer with 32 bits so that I would be able use NaturallySpeaking.

Good luck.

My computer crashed and I had to get a new one. The computer came with
Windows Vista and a voice recognition program already loaded onto it. Has
anyone had any luck with this voice recognition system? It doesn't type into
sites that I visit regularly. The only site I've had luck in is Windows Live
Messenger and Facebook. It does not type in instant message on AOL, and I'm
still finding other areas where it will not type. Making corrections are a
pain in the ass! Dragon Naturally Speaking was MUCH easier to use. I
thought it was me so I went back and read the instructions over and over
again. Now I have to get use to putting in punctuations. I just HATE it!!
And it has the nerve to not let you install Dragon Naturally Speaking!.

The Windows Vista I am learning to use it. It is different, but I am
learning. I had my files saved from my old computer and put on this one
when I purchased it, though finding them is no easy task.. Has anyone else
been using Windows Vista and this voice recognition program? What do you
think of it? Do you have any recommendations?
