HI, I'M A C-6 AND USE A REHAB-GUARDIAN SHOWER COMMODE CHAIR---MY 1ST ONE WORE OUT AFTER 10 YEARS OF USE, THEN I BOUGHT ONE OFF EBAY FOR ABOUT $ 375. i DON'T HAVE MUCH UPPER BODY CONTROLL EITHER, BUT I CAN USE MY ARMS TO HELP, PLUS MOST REHAB CHAIRS HAVE A SEAT BELT IF NEEDED. HE NEEDS TO PRACTICE BENDING OVER AND SITTING UP AGAIN IN HIS WHEELCHAIR AND TRY KEEPING BALANCE WITH HIS ARMS, PLUS EXERCISE THEM. HE IS STILL FAIRLY NEW INJURY BUT CAN IMPROVE, BALANCE AND STRENGTH. i HAVE NEVER TRIED THE TILT TYPE SHOWER CHAIRS. DANNY HEARN C-6 GOING ON 12 YEARS POST INJURY.

My husband is a c5,6 quad since a pickup truck accident a yr. ago. I do all his care, with the help of our older children (we have 9). A neighbor just took out our tub & put in a roll-in shower for us, now we need a tilting shower chair so I can do his showers by myself (a nurse comes 1x a wk. to help me now). He has very little trunk stability, so I figured we need a tilting chair - anything reclining he tends to slide out of. We have no insurance & no assistance with things like this, so we need to purchase the right things the first time. Anyone know anything about these kinds of chairs? I have the chance to buy an Ocean VIP tilting shower chair that is a 6 yr. old demo model for $400, with a new purchase price of $2,500. Do you know anything about this particular brand? Is it a good chair? What kind of chair do you all use & what has worked well for you? God has provided all of his other equipment, and someone donated enough money to buy this demo model. I want to make sure I'm getting one that works for us - this sort of equipment is non-returnable - so I'm stuck if it isn't what we need. Thanks for any suggestions you can give. MomOfMany
