Bone scans only show it's getting worse (especially in the hips, with stress fractures). BTW I'm C5 and very active. I fish for Stripe Bass, Fluke and other species 3 nights a week. Getting so I'm needing more help landing fish, and paying a hefty price via pain residually.

It's raining today, so the neck and traps are being heard from. Just wish there were pain meds that would allow me not to drool on my quad belly. Seems, on me anyway, the meds help but the time takes longer. It's like you think an hour has passed but it's only been ten minutes. Nice way to prolong your life perceptionally.

I'm in NJ and the Medical Marijuana act is going to pass. I'll set up a distributorship and be my own customer.

Anyone sleeping on a foam memory mattress? I have a 4 inch topper and it helps. I'm thinking of getting a full foam model/

Hey Danny... I'm kinda just asking to get an unscientific reference point. I wouldn't be "scared." I'm old we quads do a huge bit of "calcium dumping" almost immediately after our injuries. And apparently, only immediate, agressive therapies do much.

Standing frames do a little but notmuch to regain bone... only to slow the loss. I've been told even that isn't enough. You'd need continuous movement... like e-stim machines and bikes and so on. And it would have to be continued.

As for bone density, if Gary Rock, a six years, has similar scores to me at 25 years... it's probably nothing more than a glimpse into your future (or, who knows... maybe you're already there).

Best wishes,

That scares me as I am still waiting on my chair and am mostly bed bound.... Wouldn't a standing machine help?

Subject: [QUAD-L] Bone Scans ?? DEXA Scores

i haven't *quite* had the same issues with bone the Billy and Merril are mentioning ... BUT...

I'm wondering if anybody here has had a DEXA Scan recently (or ever) to test bone density.

I had it done 3 years ago and had pretty bad bone loss -- as expected. I started Fosamax thinking it would help but couldn't take it for 9-10 months while I was on bedrest after my surgeries last year.

Since then I took it for another year and had another scan just a week or two ago. My scores were the same or worse in most cases!

I don't know if it's the Fosamax not working -OR- if the time on bed rest un-did any benefits I might have had from the Fosamax in the first place.

I'm just curious how anybody here scored. I had areas ranging from -1.7 to -3.5 (none in the + side!).

Best wishes!
