If food addiction is a disability, then are alcoholics and drug addicts
disabled? Will we include smokers next year? Shall we add a Fat Tax to fast
food? Or any food?
Can we please stop telling these people it is OK? It is not OK!
Most people are raised to be fat. Food is so easy to shove in their mouth as
children that it takes the place of love, good hygiene, and playtime. (I know
the word should be reared, but these children are raised.)
Back in the 70's they found that most children didn't like vegetables because
they would rather eat starch and sugar.
Children need guidance and a consistent daily routine that includes personal
hygiene, chores, exercise, study and take a few minutes before bed to show them
love. As a child grows you add responsibilities and consequences. Food only
makes the other things possible. They do not need a TV or a Big Mac. (Now you
know the Orphanage system.)
In essence, if you can't raise and train a dog, you probably won't do much
better with children. That brings us to the question is obesity a disability?
Obesity is a freaking plague.

Best to all,
john

So  is the "motivation to lose those unproductive pounds" in the same class as
"motivation to stop gambling" or "motivation to stop drinking or "motivation to
stop smoking" or "motivation to start walking"?   It's all just mind over
matter?  Just man-up and DO IT?  I guess since these are all signs of mental
weakness, we could just lock up fat people until they lost weight to where they
could walk again.  That would work.   Maybe put the drinkers, smokers, and
gamblers in there too - they could have a party.  Just because you don't have a
problem doesn't mean it doesn't "count" as a problem.   These people are
damaged and need help not ostrization.

Young people talk of the future because they have no past,
while old people talk of the past because they have no future.

I agree, but for many different reasons.  Obese and Morbid Obesity are NOT
Healthy for a human and non-human body. Too many Americans are consuming too
many calories which do not contain healthy benefits.
