Hi Dan. I know what you mean about pain and spasms. It most certainly can cause autonomic dysreflexia (sp) easy. Even with the amounts of stuff I take I still go into a.d. I sweat, get goose bumps, hair stands up then sometimes I even end up either passing out from the pain or I cant sleep.The majority of mine is nerve pain. I caught a cute little bug called MRSA while in rehab. I have a supra pubic cath and drink copious amounts of fluids. I dont get uti s if I drink a lot. It is very frustrating. And drs. dont have all the answers even neurologists and this spinal specialist I go to doesnt. sci injuries are unpredictable and vary a lot from person to person from what I have seen and read. but 6 and ½ years ago I couldnt feel from my chest down then the sweating, spasms, tingling, aching and shooting pains of electricity started and is getting worse. Blows doesnt it!!?!sorry I guess I just needed to vent too! Wish I could get my hands on some stem cells

Hi all, I have never had bad spasms in my nearly 12 years post injury, except when i have a bad uti. This year I was treated with a pick line for a uti but my doctor took out the pick line before the uti was gone----he said I still had 2 bacteria present but the counts had lowered so he did not want to keep treating it because an infectious disease guy at the hospital said not to keep treating or might make a new super-bug. Anyway i have been getting by... but each day by noontime I must take pain pills to cope with pain and spasms---------EVERY single day ! I do have a syrinx-short for( syringomyelia ) and increasing back pain. Can pain cause A.D. and spasms???? I get some A.D. at times but not severe. I'm hoping to get an MRI before long but had to put it off because of the uti treatment. anyway just thought i'd vent because this gets frustrating and docs don't have many answers---I know a few of you have been having lots of pain and A.D. also, If any of us find out any helpfull info-- lets post to keep each other informed, I'll post about this again if I find out anything or something changes.
