After I check it in the hospital, the rehab doctor only wanted me on for a couple months and then taper off. He said long-term use was not good.
I think you get depended on it, which is not good if you run into a valve problem and then you cannot use it or it would not be effective was the reason. I take senna every evening. I was having a lot of accidents and my rehab doctor at that time told me to do the enema twice a day to prevent them. I don't usually get any stool in the morning, just at night. Sometimes I do get stool in the morning if it did not come down at night and it prevents me from having accidents. (C4-5, 35 years, 55 ) I had previously just done at night. I use the regular enema, which I have been told at rehab when I was first heard, not to use but you take mini enemas with biscody. They were always working. For many many years I just took biscodyl and windows were not working I went to magic bullets. Most people think it sounds extreme, but that works for me and I don't have accidents unless I have been on antibiotic or eaten something that caused for some reason. I did every other day until I was having problems with accidents and I was then told to do every day. The next time I was having accidents the rehab doctor said in the morning and night. It's good to your people that don't have to take laxatives or enemas, but that stopped working for me. Dana In a message dated 8/18/2009 10:01:31 A.M. Neither of these products should cause you to have accidents, at least that's my experience, but everyone is different. After using the products how to ensure the prevention of accidents later in the day while sitting in my wheelchair and 2. When do you take the product before doing the BM; also if there’s something that would either work by taking it the night before or work within minutes after taking it. Opposed to its name it is not an enema but rather a liquid Bisacotal suposatory. I agree. Ask your doc about taking Mirilax. If I haven't gone for a couple of days, I take one dose and within 12 to 24 hours I have no trouble dropping a load. Dan At 06:00 PM 8/13/2009, John S. said something that elicited my response: Mirilax. What do you do when it's clear that you have eaten too much fiber and are having difficulty going. The only way to go is to (how do I say this and be polite??????) "dig it out"? I am starting college full time in a couple of weeks, I can afford to spend 2 hours on the toilet each night. Honestly at the point of considering not eating to eliminate the problem. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Shelly C-6 C-7 3 years post injury
