I think we got shafted by unscrupulous politicians and Lawyers. Lawyers don't want the case because it is sent back repeatedly to negotiation and even if it does get in the court the judge sides with the money. If you do win then you get to work where your not wanted and your award will never cover your costs, time, or the fact that now even the news asks if you think your injury made you bitter or were you always an a$$? There is no upside to this law regardless of the intentions of congress when it passed. REALITY: The building where the Oscars have been held since 2002 is not wheelchair accessible. Grandfathered in?. No, built in 2001.
The examples are worthy of a Mike Moore film, but he doesn't care either. BWm, john ________________________________ From: Tod E. The original intention, as stated by the original bill's sponsor/writer, was to be as inclusive of all disabilities as possible. His wife had epilepsy and he saw the discrimination she had to struggle with. Time after time, employment cases favored the employer over employee in all but 2% of cases filed... that's only IF you could get it filed. The more employers won, the more options those of us with even "severe" disabilities lost. (Look up Toyota v. Williams... she lost because she could brush her teeth!!). ADHD is a medical diagnosis and, as a high school teacher, I see several "severe" cases of it each year. (Severity is relative.)
