Nick,

It sounds like your roommates are just being lazy or intentionally blowing
you off. I bet they have no problem waking up if it's something they want or
need to do for themselves. When I was going to school my roommate (also a
Quad) and I had a live-in roommate/caregiver that we ended up replacing for
just this reason. No amount of encouragement, pleading, shaming or
threatening made any difference with him.

Subject: [QUAD-L] Emergency Alert

Sometimes I have problems at night and I desperately need to get a roommate
to come into my room, and nobody answers my wireless intercom, their cell
phone or the house phone, and I'm left to deal with it on my own. Does
anybody know of a good, loud buzzer or anything I might be able to use to
raise the dead?? I've actually had to call 911, who doesn't understand that
I am spasming because I need to be rolled. So they washed their hands of me,
and have made it clear that I either let them take me to the emergency room
next time or pay for them to come out.. My roommate insists that he is just
too heavy a sleeper. I'm out of options. What is out there that may help me?
Better roommates?

Thanks, Nick
