I have not been rolled every two hours since I was in a circle electric. I know
how so many doctors make an issue of it. You can build your tolerance up to
sleep in most positions if you eliminate pressure points. Laying on your side
is a major pressure point that will require turning. If you sleep on your hip
you will need turned. If you prop yourself so you roll back off your hip slowly
all night you can wake someone once a night and you can get a decent nights
sleep. Pretreat your skin with Shae Butter or raw aloe plant snot right from an
aloe plant. If spasms bother you then take baclophen or valium.
If your skin is in good condition, get udder balm and use it to toughen up skin
on butt and hips, knees, ankles, etc. That two hour flip is a nursing home's
way to keep you asleep and groggy.
A tip, tie a prop pillow to the main bed frame so when you raise the back it
pulls out from behind you leaving you on your back. Then you should be in
position for some pills and water without help. Then lay back and sleep. One
position change without help.If you work your time up you'll be going 6 hours
without help. In the meanwhile, look for a low air loss mattress. You do not
need rolled on it. there are no preasure points.
I don't know if that helps. It is a matter of building your tolerance to the
positions.

BW,
john

Subject: [QUAD-L] Emergency Alert

Sometimes I have problems at night and I desperately need to get a roommate to
come into my room, and nobody answers my wireless intercom, their cell phone or
the house phone, and I'm left to deal with it on my own. Does anybody know of a
good, loud buzzer or anything I might be able to use to raise the dead?? I've
actually had to call 911, who doesn't understand that I am spasming because I
need to be rolled. So they washed their hands of me, and have made it clear
that I either let them take me to the emergency room next time or pay for them
to come out.. My roommate insists that he is just too heavy a sleeper. I'm out
of options. What is out there that may help me? Better roommates?

Thanks, Nick
