Ron, of course, is correct on the kind of Syringo us quads can acquire. "Post Traumatic Syringomyelia"
However, there are plenty of able bodied people will have *another* "form of" syringomyelia that is called *Chiari Malformation*. Unlike the form that we get that is "acquired" after a traumatic injury - Chiari Malformation is congenital (from birth) but symptoms often did not appear until people are in their 30s or 40s or 50s. They are very similar but very different. Just do a Google search on *Chiari Malformation* to find out more about it. To herlp more -- back in 1994 when I acquired Posttraumatic Syringomyelia - I had never heard of it so I was scared and I *had to do a bunch of research on my own.* I found the biggest, most helpful warehouse of information for those with both forms and it is found here http://www.asap.org . From there they have a bunch of forums, etc for people to join in and find out about their diagnosis, what they can do about it, talk to other people, etc. etc. etc. http://www.asap.org/forum/ Lori Michaelson Age - 45 C4/5 complete quad, 30 years post Tucson, AZ On Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 10:16 PM, RONALD L PRACHT <[email protected]>wrote: > Quads get a condition call post traumatic syringomeyelia.
