Interesting thought Lucinda, and you just might be right. Some here might
be guilty as charged but there is/are a small percentage of subscribers,
such as out esteemed host who is not guilty of anything, and yet was still
forced to join the planet of Quadrum. Still you are right about not blaming
the world.

Wishing you a Happy New Year and a good one at that!
Best Wishes

Yeah I know I haven't been a quad for very long. And I know I sound a
little crass, but remember these words are typed, not spoken. But there is
one person on this board that I've spoken to over the phone (you know who
you are) that can attest to the fact that I'm not crass when speaking.

I could offer the list a recommendation, it would be to give these emails
an edit option AFTER being sent :-) Peace!

Ah, okay... What would I have done differently? Gosh, not gotten in the
car that day when I was in the accident? Stayed in bed? Then I wouldn't have
been there when that drunk driver took his truck, ran the stop sign and ran
over my car...

What else may I have done differently? I think I did the right thing after
they dropped me on the floor- to go home by taxi- discharging myself.
Maybe should have gone directly to a trauma 1 center. I would say continuing
with education is tops...would have probably liked to been more active but
pain, access issues, transportation too precedence. Probably would also be,
if I were to give advice, look for any support you can. Apply for Medicaid
Waivers to get more homecare options right away. Apply for funding for home
modifications, get family educated and on board.. and be a good self-
advocate.. When I was not able to talk well due to injury, could still write.
Having someone with me during doctors appts was important. And other, is to
avoid going for unneccessary tests to "prove" to someone that my nerve pain
was real. Okay, just docs using this to make a buck.. and cover themselves
for not listening or working with me, or not being educated in the field
of spinal cord injury.
Probably best recommendation to offer would be to stay away from community
hospitals, and stick with experts in SCI, at almost all costs. Avoid
neurologists, stick with physiatrists. And other thing I did write, keep my
cats as my companions.

May today be the best start for the rest of the year. Advice- make it this
way... we can... one day at a time. Peace to you all---

(Ah.. but you DO know!)

Anyway, the question was this:

> For those of you with more living experience as quads, what would be the
one thing you would do different
> or maybe wish?you would have done/or not done over the years??

I took that to mean SINCE Quad-hood. There are several things I can think
of pre-Quad that I might have done differently but had I done any of them,
Quadhood might not even be on my radar (assuming I'd still have radar that
 functioned, that is).

Hmmm... It was over 20 years ago but there was that one "quad-hopping"
chick in college. Maybe I shouldn't have said, "No Thanks." LOL!

You GUYS must know I'm talking about, RIGHT?

But how about you ladies? Are there "quad-hoppin'" men out there, too,
just looking for a young chick in a chair?

Happy New Year O'-10!
